Start by creating a map for a new subject

To create a map and new subject click the New DITAFile button in the DITA-Word tool bar.

Once the “New DITA File Setup” dialog box is displayed select "Add New Subject" from the Subject dropdown list. A second dialog box will be displayed requesting subject specific information. The name and description for your new subject must be type into each field. Click OK.

This task just described accomplished a lot. First a new directory was crated for your new subject as was a new concept info-type file with the title and short description provided.

When the New DITA File Setup come to the front, select a prolog form that dropdown list. At this time the ability to crate new prologs is limited. Choose the map info-type from the dropdown list with the same name. Type the name of this new map file in the Title field and Click OK.

The result is a starting map file. Notice the styles Map Title and Map Level 1 used for the first two paragraphs. These must not changed because this is the minimum requirement for map files at this point in the development process.

With the insertion point in the second paragraph, click the Link Dita File button.
