The New DITA File Command

New DITA File Command

Every DITA file used by DITA-Word has a subject, title, and information type associated with it. Users are not responsible for directly assigning a file name or storage location for any DITA file. These are established by subject, title, and information type. When the new DITA File Command button is clicked the system but first establish these three items for the new file.

The action that results from clicking on this “command” is dependent on the current DITA file being viewed as the current document in MS Word. If no DITA file is being viewed then the action is to bring up a select subject dialog box.

When creating a new DITA file several items need to be setup to register it as being part of a particular subject and having the properties establish by a prolog. The Information Type and Title must also be specified.
