DITA-Word Installation Guide

Installing DITA-Word requires that several programs and support files to be properly installed on the target computer. This start-up guide will list the tasks required to verify that a tested configuration is in place before attempting to user DITA-Word.

A DITA-Word CD has been created to contain all the files and programs required to install DITA-Word. If you do not have this CD, contact Martin Pytel mpytel@epri.com to obtain a copy.

• Installing DITA-Word Files
  A set of files specific to DITA-Word must be present for DITA-Word to be properly installed. A minimum distribution will be described here.
• Installing DITA-Word as Global Add-In
  DITA-Word must be initialized each time MS Word is run when it is not installed as a Start-up Add-In. To install DITA-Word as a Global Add-In, choose the “Templates and Add-In...” command from the Tools menu. When a dialog appears with a Global templates and add-ins section, click the check box next to the file name DITA-Word.dot to load it into MS Word.
• Installing DITA-Word as Start-Up Add-In
  To have DITA-Word present each time MS Word is run, it must be installed as a Start-Up Add-In. To install it this way, copy the file DITA-Word.dot into the MS Office Startup directory (i.e. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\STARTUP).
